THE STORY

8 Cookie @ Happy Sweet House was founded by husband-and-wife team, whose journey has been shaped by perseverance, family, and an unwavering passion for great food. What began as a simple dream has grown into a brand dedicated to creating cookies that bring comfort, joy, and unforgettable moments.

Christina's story began in the Philippines, where family has always been at the center of her life. During a difficult period, her mother was diagnosed with cancer, and her family faced serious financial hardship. Determined to support her loved ones, Christina made the courageous decision to leave her home and travel to Malaysia in search of better opportunities.

Before entering the food industry, Christina worked as a kindergarten teacher in the Philippines. After arriving in Malaysia, she embraced a new culture and a fresh start. She began her F&B career as a waitress before briefly working as a barista at The Library Coffee Bar.

Her dedication, positive attitude, and willingness to learn quickly opened new opportunities. Through a friend's recommendation, she joined GreenDot, now known as NYC Dining Bar at Centrepoint Bandar Utama, where she progressed from waitress to supervisor. There, she gained valuable experience in restaurant operations, customer service, leadership, and hospitality.

It was during her time in Malaysia that she met her future hubby. Together, they dreamed of building a small business that would one day bring joys to people through food.

When the Covid-19 pandemic began, Christina and her partner returned to the Philippines to celebrate their wedding. Shortly after the ceremony, The husband returned to Malaysia to manage his business, while Christina stayed behind a little longer to spend time with her family.

Just two weeks before her planned return to Malaysia, nationwide lockdowns were announced, leaving her stranded in the Philippines.

Rather than letting uncertainty stop them, Christina chose to turn the situation into an opportunity. Drawing on her years of experience in the food industry, she founded her first business, Happy Sweet House, in her hometown.

Running a business for the first time was far from easy. With little experience in business management, she faced countless challenges. Together with her family, she worked tirelessly to build Happy Sweet House, serving milk tea, New York sundaes, BBQ, Pastil, and other beloved local delicacies. Every obstacle became a lesson, and every satisfied customer strengthened her confidence as an entrepreneur.

When travel restrictions were lifted, Christina returned to Malaysia to reunite with her husband. She later joined Amachi's Palagaram, a family-run Indian Delicacies in USJ 11, Subang Jaya, renowned for its authentic appam and traditional heritage snacks. The experience further refined her culinary skills and deepened her appreciation for handcrafted food made with passion.

About a year later, Christina discovered she was pregnant. Although she could no longer work outside the home, she refused to let her passion fade. While caring for her growing family, she continued cooking and baking from home, preparing homemade food and drinks for customers who appreciated food made with genuine care.

In 2025, after visiting hundreds of food festivals, cafés, bakeries, and dessert markets across Malaysia, Christina discovered what truly captured her heart: Cookies.

She realized that baking cookies brought her a unique sense of happiness. Every batch became an opportunity to express her creativity, every recipe a chance to improve, and every smiling customer reminded her why she loved baking. What started as experiments in her home kitchen soon became her true calling.

Every cookie is handcrafted using carefully selected ingredients, inspired by years of resilience, curiosity, and culinary experience, then perfected through countless hours of testing, baking, and refinement.
